English Philharmonia Orchestra

The English Philharmonia has built a world-wide reputation for its high-calibre players and the quality of their performances. Their appearances have taken them from intimate settings to theatres, from cathedrals to concert venues such as the Royal Festival Hall. The orchestra’s repertoire covers a wide range of music, from early baroque to contemporary, including specially-commissioned works.

It has a track record of working with internationally-acclaimed soloists, including Steven Osborne, Richard Watkins, Amanda Roocroft, Catherine Wyn-Rogers, Alastair Miles and James Gilchrist.

Highlights in previous years include: a concert version of Porgy and Bess – Gershwin, Unfinished Symphony – Schubert, Elijah- Mendelssohn, Belshazzar’s Feast – Walton, Requiem – Verdi, Horn Concerto no. 3 – Mozart, Serenade for tenor, horn and strings – Britten and the world premiere of Chris Williams’s Songs of the Coromandel Coast.
